Web Content Officer

MariDeal is seeking for a Web Content Officer to join our Web Content department in our Head Office at The Vale, Grand Bay. Reporting to the Head of Web Content, you are responsible for the day-to-day management of content across the booking platforms in MariDeal. Your role is to write, proofread, create, and edit content; ensure that all website contents are accurate, up to date, well written in English and French and published according to the brand standards and editorial guidelines; and ensure search engine optimization. As a Web Content Officer, you understand pricing strategies, calculate rates including the company markup and collaborate closely with other departments to validate accuracy of information and pricings prior to final publication.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with other departments internally to maintain the proper deliverance of brand image and brand voice to target audience

  • Write and edit clear and error-free content in English and French with well-structured information on the website, as per established procedures
  • Conduct research to formulate ideas or support writing
  • Understand, review, analyse pricing strategies and calculate prices including the company markup
  • Ensure all-around consistency and proofread any work done for accuracy and quality before publication
  • Assist in multiple assignments with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Optimize existing and new content by applying SEO best practices with targeted keywords in writing to maximize the online visibility of the website in search results and content reach
  • Engage in periodic site reviews to conduct category sorting, optimizing attributes, updating photos and product details, to deliver an easier user experience
  • Other duties as part of the department can be assigned depending on the workload and assistance required in tight deadlines
  • Any other ad hoc responsibilities may be provided by senior management

 

Experience:

Education (Academic, Professional, Technical): 

  • Diploma / BSc / BA in Communication, Marketing, Business Management, Journalism, English or French, or any relevant qualifications

  • Experience in a tourism service-oriented industry (hotel or travel industry experience is a plus)

Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of how pricing strategies work
  • Demonstrated typing, editing, proofreading and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines and in multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously
  • Excellent time-management, organizational and analytical skills
  • Computer literate: comfortable with the internet, computer usage and web-based application skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excel skills is compulsory
  • Prior work experience as a Content Writer, Content Specialist or similar role will be an advantage

Experience/Profile:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience is a plus

  • Pro-active, sense of responsibility and can work independently
  • Quick and resourceful, flexible, accurate, strong analytical and an eye for detail
